About the Author

Ray Coker is a project management trainer, consultant, and author. He has taught Microsoft Project and project planning tools and techniques to thousands of students and professionals across North America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. Throughout his career, Ray has worked with organizations such as Amgen, Lockheed Martin, Kimberly-Clark, British Petroleum, M&M Mars, Siemens, AT&T, NASA, the U.S. Naval Academy, the USDA, the FDA, the U.S. Secret Service, and many government agencies, universities, and private companies.

Since the first versions of Microsoft Project, Ray has created and led over thirty workshops on Microsoft Project, Project Server, and project management. These workshops focus on practical planning, scheduling, forecasting, and project control. Several international consulting and training firms have licensed and delivered his workshops to organizations worldwide.

Ray focuses on helping people build clear, logical, and technically sound project schedules. He teaches how to use Microsoft Project as a reliable tool for planning and forecasting within a disciplined project management process. Ray created the Project MAP (Model > Activities > Processes) framework and the MS Project Master Class Learning Portal. This training system includes hands-on exercises, workflows, downloadable project files, assessments, coaching, and the MS Project Master Class Book.

Ray has also trained, developed, and certified over 100 project management professionals who make/made their living doing project management training and consulting.

Ray lives in Colorado’s Front Range and volunteers as a ranger with Boulder County Open Space. He has restored six historic homes and enjoys hiking, bicycling, and gardening.
